Repentigny, November 4th 2014 – For its efforts and its commitment to a proactive management of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, the City of Repentigny received the Enviro-access’ Carbon CareTM Certification.

In collaboration with our experts and the Programme Climat Municipalité of the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment and the Fight against Climate Change, the City of Repentigny completed its first GHG inventory. Repentigny can be proud of its many achievements to reduce their GHG emissions:  it uses biodigesters for the île Lebel wastewater treatment plant, it is gradually replacing municipal vehicles’ flashing lights with LED technology, and it now provides free public transportation for people aged 65 and older. Moreover, Repentigny will continue its fight against climate change with its new five years strategic plan in which ambitious targets have been set, including GHG emissions reduction.

According to Normand Urbain, president of the Repentigny’s Environment and Sustainable Development Committee, the municipality demonstrates its green commitment by implementing direct actions to reduce GHG emissions by 19.9%. He is very satisfied with what they have achieved so far, and particularly proud to obtain the Carbon CareTM certification. He hopes it will encourage others to adopt greener practices, while raising awareness on the fight against climate change.

The Carbon CareTM Certification

Developed by Enviro-access, the Carbon CareTM Certification recognizes initiatives to reduce GHG emissions and achievements. The certification also attests the compliance of the GHG emissions’ inventory according to ISO14064-1.

For the past twenty years, Enviro-access has supported public and private organizations on their way to sustainability. Our expert team is one of the most competent and experienced in Canada in GHG quantification and reduction as well as in verification and validation of GHG projects and GHG inventory.

Congratulations to the City of Repentigny!
