The Carbon Care® Basic Certification for an organization was meant for any type of organization, from municipalities to private companies, as well as financial and educational institutions
An organization wishing to obtain the basic certification had to:
Carry out a GHG emissions inventory in compliance with ISO standard 14064-1, which must include at least direct GHG emissions and indirect emissions from imported energy. This inventory must have been performed by a firm recognized by Enviro-access OR have been audited, with a reasonable level of assurance, by an auditing firm accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC). The GHG emissions inventory must cover a one-year period ending during the year for which the certification shall apply.
Provide tangible proof of the various initiatives that clearly demonstrate the organization’s commitment to reduce its GHGs.
Sign an agreement regarding the logo’s conditions of use.

The Carbon Care® Basic Certification for an event rewards events of all sizes that have responsibly managed their greenhouse gas emissions and wish to promote their environmental
devotion.
An organizer wishing to achieve the basic certification for an event had to:
Carry out a GHG emissions inventory prior to the event based on the ISO standard 14064-1 and include direct emissions, indirect emissions from imported energy, indirect emissions from transportation, as well as any other indirect emissions related to services controlled by the event organizer. This GHG emissions inventory must have been carried out or reviewed by Enviro-access.
Provide tangible proof of the various initiatives that clearly demonstrate the organizer’s commitment to reduce the event’s GHG emissions.
Sign an agreement regarding the logo’s conditions of use.
COMPENSATED EMISSIONS CERTIFICATION
Requirements for Carbon Care® Compensated Emissions Certification for an Organization
The Carbon Care® Compensated Emissions Certification for an organization was meant for any type of organization, from municipalities to private companies, as well as financial and educational institutions.
An organization wishing to obtain the compensated emissions certification for compensating its GHG emissions for a specific year had to, in addition to meeting the basic requirements, comply with the following additional requirements:
Have compensated all direct GHG emissions and indirect emissions from imported energy detailed in the GHG inventory ending during the year for which the certification shall apply. To do so, the organization must purchase and withdraw offset credits or GHG emissions reductions meeting one or the other of the following requirements:
Credits issued by one of the following recognized programs: Verified Carbon Standards (VCS), Climate Action Reserve (CAR), The Gold Standard.
GHG emission reductions from a GHG project that complies with ISO standard 14064-2 and has been audited, with a reasonable level of assurance, by an auditing firm accredited by the Standards Council of Canada.
Provide proof of payment or withdrawal of the offset credits or GHG emissions reductions

An organizer wishing to obtain the compensated emissions certification for compensating an event’s GHG emissions had to, in addition to meeting the basic requirements, meet the following additional requirements:
Prior to staging the event:
Enter into an agreement to purchase and withdraw offset credits or GHG emissions reductions to compensate all emissions in the GHG inventory. These reductions must meet one or the other of the following requirements:
Credits issued by one of the following recognized programs: Verified Carbon Standards (VCS), Climate Action Reserve (CAR), The Gold Standard.
GHG emissions reductions from a GHG project that complies with ISO standard 14064-2 and has been audited with a reasonable level of assurance by an auditing firm accredited by the Standards Council of Canada.
Provide a copy of the purchase and withdrawal agreement.
Following the event:
Confirm the accuracy of the GHG emissions evaluated prior to staging the event.
Provide proof of payment or withdrawal of the offset credits or GHG emissions reductions.
